Rite-Aid has refreshed their video values coupons. This is a great program for anyone who shops at Rite-Aid. For every video you watch you earn a coupon for the item featured in the video. You will also earn one to two credits toward the all important $5 off of $20 purchase coupon. Once you accumulate 20 credits you can print that coupon. The two pharmacies, CVS and Rite-Aid, are a vital part of saving money on your groceries. The great thing is they are national chains and can be found in most communities. Here is how the program works for each pharmacy:
CVS – The backbone of how you get the best deals at CVS is called the Extra Care Buck (abbreviated ECB). This is a certificate that prints at the bottom of your receipt. This certificate is worth whatever cash value is printed on it. You get ECBs by purchasing specific sale items that generate them. On the site an ECB deal will look like this:

What you see here is an item for sale that will generate one ECB. The item is only $1.88 and we have a $1 off coupon. This means we will pay 88¢ for the item and get $1 back in ECB. As you can see this starts to become profitable. The key now is to take that one ECB and apply it to another item that will generate more ECB. Once you get to about five ECB in your pocket you should never have to spend more than a few dollars each trip to pick up hundreds of dollars of stuff. Here is a scenario from a previous week:

This takes some practice but before you know it you will be taking home tons of stuff from CVS for free!! To take advantage of the CVS deals you have to be and Extra Care club member. This is free and you can sign up at your local CVS.
Rite-Aid – The Rite-Aid program is a rebate program. It does not work like your old fashioned rebate programs where you have to fill out a long form and send in your receipt and proof of purchase. Instead you get a single check rebate (abbreviated SCR) that you apply for online. The online system just has you put in some information from your receipt and then they go and match all the rebates for you. Once you are at the end of the month you can request a check for all the rebates you earned that month. They check only take two to four weeks to get to you. It will have some writing that says to redeem at Rite-Aid but you can deposit it into your bank account. A single check deal will look like this:

Just like with CVS we are trying to target items that are free after the rebate and have a coupon so that we can make a profit on the item. This allows us to buy a few other items that may not be free after rebate. To sign up for SCR you need to go to the Rite-Aid Website.
You may have noticed that we do not cover Walgreen’s as one of our pharmacies. The reason is that Walgreen’s has a system similar to CVS but it is so complicated and hard to work with that we have given up trying to work with them. We are hearing that changes are coming and when Walgreen’s figures out how to make it easy to take advantage of their deals we will start covering their specials.
